Kanter-For-Randolph Deal In The Works

Kanter-For-Randolph Deal In The Works

Enes Kanter #00 of the New York Knicks looks on during the game against the Sacramento Kings on March 4, 2018 at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. The two-time All-Star played for the Knicks during the 2007-08 season and briefly during the 2008-09 season before being traded to the Clippers.

Despite Kanter making $18.6 million this year, the Kings have the flexibility to pull off this deal as they now have around $11 million in cap space.

The New York Knicks and Sacremento Kings are discussing a potential swap of pending free agents Enes Kanter and Zach Randolph, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Hence why a third team might be needed.

It's unclear if this deal will materialize, but it would be a step in the right direction for the Knicks.

Ultimately, the Turkish center has no future in NY, so it makes sense to let him join the Kings, who are now chasing a playoff appearance.

Despite limited action, Kanter said that he is happy in NY.

Kanter, who has been averaging 14.4 points and 11 rebounds in 26.5 minutes per game this season, was sent to the Knicks from the Thunder as part of the Carmelo Anthony trade in September 2017. With that being said, a recent rumor has risen in the National Basketball Association community pertaining to a possible trade the Kings might pull off. But if the Knicks can manage to sneak Courtney Lee or Tim Hardaway Jr. into a deal, this trade would become a home run. It was one of the best stretches of his career as he averaged 18 points and 10.6 rebounds per game.
