Barcelona plan to sell Philippe Coutinho this summer

The same article states that the La Liga champions are prepared to listen to offer for the Brazilian playmaker after a disappointing 12 months for the former Liverpool FC star at Camp Nou.

Manchester United have opened talks with Philippe Coutinho's agent to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford, according to reports in Spain.

The 26-year-old has been in hot form for Red Bull Leipzig this season, netting nine Bundesliga goals to add to the 22 he notched in last year's league campaign.

It is online a year since Coutinho sealed his mega money switch to Barcelona, to become the club's most expensive ever signing and the most costly in La Liga history.

The Brazilian midfielder is understood to be available in the January transfer window if a club meets the asking price.

Marca are reporting that Coutinho's confidence has taken a massive hit after his recent performances and that he's now at "rock bottom".

Denis came off the bench against Levante in midweek to earn Barça a penalty as they were beaten 2-1 in their Copa del Rey round of 16 first leg.

Coutinho is unsurprisingly disappointed with how things are going.

Coutinho is willing to wait out the current troublesome spell, the report adds, and will not look to give up his dream of becoming a Barca success story just yet.

It has also been reported that Manchester United will wait till the summer and only make a bid after the finalisation of a permanent manager at the club.

United face having to pay close to the £142m for Coutinho, which would be a record for the Premier League.

It's believed that Philippe will wait until the summer to see if his situation improves or not and Manchester United aren't thought of being in a rush to complete the deal.
