According to The Blast, Savage's father's lawyer told the publication, "It should be respectfully stated that we requested two of R. Kelly's previous managers and two of R. Kelly's previous attorneys for the Savage family to see Joycelyn", said Gerald Griggs.

The interview comes about a week after the premiere of the Lifetime documentary series, "Surviving R. Kelly", which features multiple sexual abuse allegations against Kelly.

R. Kelly's lawyer is speaking up for his client following the release of a new docuseries, Surviving R. Kelly.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Greenberg portrayed Kelly, one of the top-selling recording artists of all time, as a victim of a television hit piece. His own daughter later called him "a monster" on social media. However it was not necessary to clarify whether there was any truth to their claims as they didn't go to the police or provide and physical evidence, he said.

Greenberg confirmed that Kelly married Aaliyah when she was 15 and he was 27, but said Kelly didn't know she was younger than the legal age of consent.

"The allegations aren't true because he never knowingly had sex with an underage woman, he never forced anyone to do anything, he never held anyone captive, he never abused anyone", he said.

Greenberg also claimed that "those things didn't happen" and "the man was not operating a harem or a sex cult or holding people hostage or anything like that", before expressing hope that Kelly will sue Lifetime for defamation "because people shouldn't be able to do this to someone".

Greenberg noted that Kelly's spirits are high and that "he's out and about" while also praising him as a "phenomenal" artist and highlighting that there has been an increase in streams of his music since the documentary aired.

The singer has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct involving women and underage girls.
