Sarri calls January exit for Willian 'impossible' amid Barcelona links

The Spanish league champions were interested in signing Willian back in the summer transfer window and made a number of bids to acquire his services, all of which were rebuffed.

The latest rumours suggested Barca tabled an offer for Willian which amounted to €55m, including Malcom, but Sarri says the Chelsea man simply is not leaving.

When a reporter mentioned the possibility of Chelsea winger Willian only receiving a one-year deal, Maurizio Sarri cut him short.

Willian said his future is at Chelsea as he brushed off fresh reports linking him with a move to Barcelona. had earlier of reported that Premier League giants, Chelsea, are close to landing their second signing in the ongoing January transfer window.

"No, because I have the option with Hazard in this position", said Sarri earlier this month when asked about signing a centre forward. "I don't know what you're talking about".

"I think he can do better, he can do better because of his potential but he is really very important to us, so I think it is impossible to lose Willian in January".

But he also believes the 30-year-old can score more goals and improve his work off the ball.

It's become abundantly clear this season that the Blues' squad needs revamping, such as finding a successor for Gary Cahill and replacing Alvaro Morata.

However, the Brazilian's future continues to be shrouded in uncertainty, with Barcelona renewing their interest in the Chelsea superstar.

"With Eden [Hazard] as a striker, we need wingers".
