Active shooter situation at UPS facility in New Jersey

New Jersey police responded Monday morning to reports of an active shooter at an area UPS facility, according to reports.

Fiore said there was apparently a prior relationship between the gunman and one of the women he took hostage, though he didn't elaborate.

The building, located in an industrial district of the south New Jersey township of 6,000, is a bulk mail processing facility, UPS said.

CBS Philly reports that there are no known injuries and that SWAT teams were activated and sent to the scene.

Thirty-two UPS employees were evacuated to a Holiday Inn, about 10 minutes away, Gloucester County spokeswoman Debra Sellitto said. Gloucester County Prosecutor Charles Fiore told reporters the women appeared to be unharmed.

PIX11 has reached out to Logan Township Police Department, who would only confirm there is "active police activity".

Television news footage showed officers crouched behind a vehicle behind the building's loading dock. We can not provide information about the identity of people involved at this time.

The nearby Swedesboro-Woolwich School District said it is monitoring the situation. They said that all pupils and students are safe.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
