Lagonda Teases New All Terrain Concept Ahead Of Geneva Reveal

It is called the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept, more of which we'll see at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show next month. Serving as their ultra-luxury division exclusively powered by electricity, the Lagonda brand is a step-up in opulence that comes with zero-emissions, more stylish designs and self-driving capability.

While Aston didn't confirm the precise technical details of last year's saloon concept, it's understood each axle gets its own electric motor for four-wheel drive.

Once in the real world, it'll find itself sitting on architecture closely related that that of Aston Martin's fossil-fueled DBX, a vehicle with which it'll share the new St Athan production line when manufacturing begins in 2021.

Aston Martin will travel to the 2019 Geneva auto show to preview the second vehicle it plans to launch after it establishes Lagonda as a sub-brand. It also allows Aston to develop electric cars while keeping its high-performance gasoline cars separate. Like the original Lagonda, it was an angular affair, dividing opinion but never relenting when it came to luxury or, indeed, power.

Based on the platform and electric tech of the Lagonda Vision Concept. It borrows styling cues - and melodrama - from the Vision Concept, as well as an all-EV drivetrain. Though the All-Terrain Concept is, indeed, just a concept auto for Geneva, it does preview the first model Lagonda will put into production, the automaker says. Beyond that, what the All-Terrain concept looks like is anyone's guess.

Flaunting the "rakish design language", as Lagonda says, the All-Terrain Concept will be taking cues from the Vision Concept that was displayed previous year. That vehicle utilized solid-state batteries, a 640km range, and wireless conductive charging.

"The ways in which automotive brands reveal new product has changed beyond recognition in recent years, but there's still something compelling about the unique atmosphere of a great motor show", Aston Martin Lagonda president and chief executive Andy Palmer said.
