Ariana Grande wins first Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album

Ariana Grande wins first Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album

Ariana Grande is saying thank you (sans "next") to the Recording Academy.

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson split in October 2018, just before she released Thank U, Next - in which she reflects on lessons learned from past loves.

While Cardi B, Travis Scott, Pusha T and Nipsey Hussle all had incredible albums previous year, people thought the late Mac Miller might take home the gong for his fifth studio album Swimming, which was also nominated for the category.

"F-", she tweeted, as Cardi B was announced the victor. In view of her 60.7 million Twitter followers, Ariana tweeted: "trash", followed up by "f***" and said "bull****" in a third tweet.

She wrote "fuck", "bullshit" and "literal bullshit" one after the other before quickly deleting the posts.

At first, some thought she was referring to Cardi's win, but Grande later clarified that it had "nothing to do w her".

The fact of the matter is - and I actually wrote a little thing in the middle of the night that I'm not going to do anything about, but, I mean.

Her late ex-boyfriend Mac Miller tragically died a year ago from an accidental overdose. She has also been nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album twice before (for My Everything in 2015 and Dangerous Woman in 2017) and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Dangerous Woman" in 2019.

She bested fellow nominees Camila Cabello, Kelly Clarkson, Shawn Mendes, P!nk, and Taylor Swift in the category.

This is Grande's first Grammy. One particular award touched a nerve with Grande: Cardi B being awarded Best Rap Album.

The Bronx rapper sported a white floor-length gown which sat off the shoulders.

An emotional Cardi accepted the award next to her husband, Offset.

She thanked him in her acceptance speech, as well as their seven-month-old daughter, Kulture.
