Renault F1 team reveals its auto, has big hopes for improved engine

Renault have revealed their brand new challenging vehicle for the 2019 Formula 1 championship season, to be driven by Nico Hulkenberg and new recruit, Daniel Ricciardo.

Renault Sport Racing Managing director Cyril Abiteboul said ahead of the unveiling of its 2019 vehicle on Tuesday that the team was on the rise and needed to put the hard years of rebuilding behind it.

"Engine excellency will be our priority in Viry while the structure now in place in Enstone strives to improve the competitiveness of the chassis, season after season".

Renault was fourth in the constructors' championship previous year, which was financially a valuable achievement, but the gap to Red Bull in the standings was 297 points.

"No figure - but it is substantial", he said, when asked by Motorsport.com about the new engine's level of improvement. We should have the motorhome and the coffee machine working but that's as far as I'm 100% sure.

Ricciardo, who won two races for Red Bull in 2018, said: "It was a big decision for me and it certainly shook up a little bit of F1 and had quite a ripple effect on the grid".

"Hopefully by 2020 we should get there with brand new engine workshop".

What do you think of the new Renault livery?

"We will have to balance performance and reliability, but it's a game everyone is playing in modern Formula One", Abiteboul added. "And therefore being able to react quicker than before", Abiteboul said.

Retired four times world champion and team special advisor Alain Prost, addressing staff before the launch, said he was impressed by the changes and hoped to see Ricciardo or German teammate Nico Hulkenberg on the podium this year.

The team revealed its livery for the new season on 2018-specification vehicle at its factory in Enstone today and also presented renderings of how its finished auto will look. So we know that there is a direct connection between how short you can reduce your lead time and your competitiveness those are the sort of things that we need to do.
